Free verse, the World, and you.
---

One; You are not important.

It's funny how you think so many things,
When you hardly have a brain,
And the one I laugh at most,
Is that you think the world revolves around you.

How silly, because…
It does not.

If you were to jump off a cliff,
The world would not jump with you,
Rather, you would jump into the world;
Perhaps reality will wake somewhere,
On the inside, as you hit the ground,
And keep falling.

Because you do not belong up here,
Where the world exists.

---

Two; I am not blind.

If words were the colors of the world,
Then truth would be the blue of the oceans,
Because there is a lot of it,
But it always has dangers with its sugar coating.

Lies would be the gold of the deserts,
Because they are dry and desolate,
Sometimes with hidden treasures,
But escape is hard once you've gotten lost in them.

There is no need to ask for a glass of water,
Because I am not willing to give it,
And you are far too parched for saving.

---

Three; Pay attention.

Too bad you were busy falling into the world,
Because when you weren't looking,
She opened up to you and offered an oasis,
But you were too busy trying to catch yourself,
That you missed the offering,
Brushed it off as a mistake,
And moved along.

---

Four; Turn around.

When you hit the earth and kept falling,
She held out a hand,
But you were too far gone,
Even as you did reach up,
The lava claimed you quickly,
And you embraced it back.

And still she watches over you,
As you dance in flames.

---

Five; Backstabbing Sun.

Sometimes when I sit alone
And look up at the night sky
I notice all the stars
And the moon
And think to myself
That's me.

Sometimes when the day is bright
I squint up to the sun
And smile
Because you tend to be on my mind a lot
And the sun is warm on my back
Like the wound I still have
From the knife in your hand

And I think to myself
That's you.

---

Six; Goodbye?

If you say your farewells to sunlight,
Then you might as well say farewell to moonlight as well,
Because moonlight is sunlight's reflection.

I hardly mirror you.

So make up your mind.
It's not one or the other anymore.

It's the two of us,
Or stop trying to make me shine.

---

Seven; The head on your shoulders.

You've got a balloon at the top of your body,
It's too big and could pop any second.

Too bad that you can't think with it,
And that you think with the one that's deflated.

---

Eight; Flowers and Deserts.

I think it's funny when somebody gives you real flowers.
"This will last a week or so,
And when the color fades from those petals,
So, too, will my love.
Because by that time,
I'll have met plenty of new fish,
As there are many out there in the sea."

No need to mention that the sea of which you speak,
Is dry and golden,
And thick with sand.

Blue plastic flowers are fine by me.

---

Nine; The title of this.

It's somewhat specific, and you are not capitalized,
Because the World offers so much more…

---

Ten; I'm losing my mind.

My thoughts are scattered,
And I often find them fighting,
Because you seem to reign supreme among them,
And as much as I would love to tell you to step down,
It pains me to realize that balloons can't hear,
And you utilize the wrong head.

---

Eleven; Numbers only go so far.

I'm sure I could tell you how many times I've cried,
I can even count them on my fingers and toes,
But if I were including you,
I'd need extra arms and legs,
Because you cost too much.

---

Twelve; The day of my birthday.

On the twelfth day of the fifth month,
In the year of nineteen ninety two,
I started dying,
But I live for so much more.

Yourself not included.

---

Thirteen; An unlucky number.

We don't talk a lot anymore.
That's good, because although I love the heat,
I hate deserts.

Yet, I still find myself wandering around in them.

---

Fourteen; You have just logged on.

That little window erupts a kind of excitement in me,
Those simple pixels,
Brighten my day,
Because the sun has risen in my lonely room.

---

Fifteen; You have just logged off.

It's been a day free of deserts,
But I still can't find the ocean.

I didn't even get a chance to watch the sunset.

It's funny that way, though.
The Moon is always ready in the sky before the Sun even leaves.

The Sun never says goodbye.
This is long, but it all goes together and stuff.
I wrote it last year.

It meant a lot to me at the time and still does.
